This characteristic has made Casco Viejo a true model city on the continent.   <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"preFade fadeIn\"><strong>Public squares.<\/strong> We&#8217;re sure you have a story to tell with your friends or family in one of the plazas of the Old Town (Plaza Mayor, Plaza Herrera, Plaza Bol\u00edvar, Plaza de Francia), because that&#8217;s what they&#8217;re for: to be shared and enjoyed as spaces for community life. Our goal is for Porta Norte to be the country&#8217;s first smart city.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"preFade fadeIn\">Talking about smart cities doesn&#8217;t just refer to cutting-edge technology, such as intelligent waste management or traffic lights that work with machine learning to improve traffic flow, but it is necessary to be in tune with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/es\/chronicle\/article\/objetivo-11-las-ciudades-desempenaran-un-papel-importante-en-la-consecucion-de-los-objetivos-de\">UN&#8217;s Sustainable Development Goal 11<\/a> (SDG 11).<\/p>\n<p class=\"preFade fadeIn\">This means we seek an organic coexistence between technology and nature. We incorporate the best technology, even from the construction stage, but we also promote biodiversity.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"preFade fadeIn\">Furthermore, we promote zero-emission transportation options such as cycling and, above all, walking. Today, areas that were once far from the city center have been incorporated into the urban sprawl, but where can we find sustainable and planned growth? To the south, Panama Bay is an unbreachable border; to the east, the mangrove zone makes urban development very difficult; and to the west, we have the canal reserve and the canal itself, which makes growth on that side impossible.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"preFade fadeIn\">For all these reasons, the concept of North Panama, integrating all the actions already underway to make this part of the city the new center.
